If I put one string over soil like this, will I get success in propagating..

    Yes but make sure the nodes (where the leaves are attached to the stem) are in contact with the soil. You can use bobby pins or make your own pins with some wire to anchor them.

    I love your illustration! Yes, pin it, like previous comment says. And you can cover it with clear plastic or glass to speed up the process.
