This fruit was grown by my next-door neighbor but he didn’t plant it. It’s about the size and shape of a mandarin, but obviously with a very bumpy skin. He gave me a whole bag of them and every single fruit is completely seedless. There is also almost no pith. The fruit has a classic orange or tangerine flavor, but is very sweet and sour, and very juicy. The peel separates easily from the flesh, but tends to break apart a bit – sort of a brittle peel.
For comparison, I recently bought Kishu mandarins from a supermarket. They have a smooth peel that stays intact when peeling, the fruit is not sour, it’s drier than the mystery fruit (although this could be because it’s from a supermarket), and it has less of an orange flavor and is more sort of melon-like in flavor, maybe.

It’s a variety of mandarin. Some of them get bumpy rinds when ripe.

I don’t know, but I would look at asking him for a cut branch from him to plant one yourself if you like them.

Gold nugget Tangerine maybe? It’s a newer variety, but trees have been sold for a while now.
