Update on my post ( https://www.reddit.com/r/sanpedrocactus/comments/1ntjpmi/hulks_balls_rooting_update/ )

I now have 6 rooted hulks balls since my previous post. They seem to be extremely slow growing but winter temperatures certainly arent helping that. Good news is they seem quite healthy and are establishing decent roots which will hopefully lead to great growth in the future!

It seems like for rooting hulks balls you want to push them as thick as possible before chopping to root. Almost every ball ive rooted has been at least an inch thick. I probably wouldnt try to root anything smaller. it seems to also help if they have 1 main ball and at least 1 pup. As you can see from photo 3 I tried to root some medium sized balls, some of which have multiple balls, and they seem to just be drying up.

If you have any hulks balls related questions id love to answer! Ive grafted/grown hundreds at this point so I have fairly decent knowledge and id love to help people out.

Hey man, thanks for sharing! I’m trying to one two (two balls). I can echo they I haven’t seen much growth at all… And I haven’t check the roots cause I’m afraid to disturb it until spring lol. I hope you have some success and we start seeing some non grafted hulk’s balls more often!
