Picked up this inexpensive grow light.. states "6000k 642 leds", wanted to get something to use for when its freezing (not too often, dallas area).

Think it is okay or could it be more harm than good?

Looks good to me. I would get the Photone app and pay the few bucks for led module to test ppfd. You just make a white printer paper strip and tape into a loop. Put the strip over the camera. Keep moving the lights closer if they are tolerated well. My trichs are taking off under my current LED.

Not as accurate as a dedicated meter of course, but you only really need a generalized idea if you aren’t growing anything more sensitive.

Better than nothing, but a 2-300 watts led grow light would be the way to go…

I got a cheap meter on Amazon, highly recommend. I like to use Candlefoot to correlate what they receive as compared to “full sun” when placed outside in my yard. Several other conversions from there.. I feel this will give you the best understanding of placement/distance etc

What’s the back right blue-hue one? Dig that geometry

I have done a lot of research, and have multiple recommendations for different scenarios and circumstances. It will take me a few days to get to it though.

Most people have the light above the cacti, but think about how small an area of the cacti (the top) is hit by the light.

I let my cacti get light from above at an angle so their sides get hit by the light too. And I use reflectors (aluminum foil) to send more light back onto the cacti.

They might work to grow thin cactus with them hovering a few inches above them

Grab 2 quantum panels. There are several brands available on popular shopping sites that make powerful 100w squares that pump. Look for Samsung LED diodes they are great. Those will stretch and get weird looking under that little light.
