I walk past these trees often and have noticed what looks like damage to the lower half of the trunks. Given they are growing in beds of (managed) ivy, I would assume that what looks to me like damage is the ivy growing into the tree trunk and then being pulled off, rather than removed at the root. I am a complete novice here so would like some expert info so I can contact the maintenance company about it, if required.

If you’re talking about the brown thicker bark at the bottom it looks fine to me it’s just a stronger bark. No damage just how it grows as it gets older
