I was checking on my leaf props and have them in humidity domes which sometimes leads to water damage on the edges if they are larger leaves which I oftentimes trim off. In this case, it's a little different. Seems there is water damage in several places (or something else?). The stem and leaf itself is very turgid and I dug around and see I have a good set of developed roots and some very small, likely unviable plantlets. How do I salvage this leaf? Just cut out all the brown and leave the stem and any part of a green leaf?

I’m also trying, well-drained soil like sand and watering only when it dries out

It could be water damage and that could be why you still feel good turgor. I’d worry about rot, and whether or not this issue will pass to the babies. If it were mine, I’d leave it alone and see what happens. If those dark spots start getting soft and mushy then I’d be concerned. It might stay contained and produce viable plants, or it could become necrotic. If you cut it now, it might become worse.
