Got this sango kaku Japanese maple on clearance in the middle of summer and didn’t do much work on it aside from regular maintenance. Can’t wait for spring to start working on it!

Wow that’s awesome material to start with, bark is amazing. Can’t see a graft so if there’s one it’s very good.
If it were me I would, using the last pic as the reference, cut the left branch off, the centre trunk down to the lowest side branch and then trim that down to an inch. Good sized trunk for a smaller tree.
