Probably more tedious than difficult. I’m guessing they attached an absorbent matting on the inside for the moss to propagate on. Great show piece. Fairly easy maintenance. Assumedly just spraying it down to keep it moist.

Not terribly difficult to execute, just need to be able to grow moss, which itself can have challenges depending on climate. This would be considered Kusamono, or at least some version of it, same techniques. This would not survive indoors long term, so I wouldn’t consider it a houseplant.
