I’m trimming one of the trees on our properties and I see this wrapped around the trunk and round the branches. Is it the root wrapped around itself?

    Poison ivy maybe suit up use extreme care. I’m very confident that it isn’t English ivy.

    Some sort of vine. I’d clip a section of it out at the base of it so it doesn’t strangle your tree and stress it any further. Those black lines in the wood in picture 5 are called “spalting” and indicate infection by some sort of fungi.
