So I have this lucky bamboo that was in a completely inappropriate planter with no drainage. With my diamond drill bits and add masonry bit, it now has drainage hole. But this piece has died at the base. I am 100% a water propping guy, but figured I would post on here to see what advice I can get. Also, any advice on better care for the mother plant would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

You can cut off any part that’s yellow and not squishy or soft, I can’t tell exactly from the photo but looks like you got atleast 2 salvageable nodes in there. Just make a diagonal cut on the stem at the base of the first good node from the bottom and pop it in water. Mine rooted in about a month. Hope it helps! I am not familiar with the substrate your mother plant is in but I keep mine in water and it has been thriving, maybe you could try that
