My daughter was given this cactus by a friend who moved overseas. Obviously, she completely neglected it. I found it tonight clinging to its poor abandoned life. Is there any hope for it or is it too far gone? I haven’t had great success propping succulents but I’m good at other plants. Can I cut the green off and prop it?

It doesn’t hurt to try – if you cut it off and it dies, it dies. Prepare for the worst and hope the best, I guess.

I mean it can’t hurt to try to cut the green part off and prop. It won’t survive if you leave it that’s for sure

Have you tried inflating it with a bike pump?

If it was mine, I would chop it off at the neck, let it callus, repot next week in fresh perlite/pumice mix, wait till spring. And with the rest, maybe trim it to 1 1/2″, repot in fresh, and wait till spring. You will be surprised. the root is not dead, you will be surprised.

Yes. No way this isn’t rotted all the way through. And that pot is not good for cacti so don’t reuse it for any new ones lol.

Idk a little more water might bring it back to life. 😂😂💀

    Try some Viagra

But yeah, I think it’s probably dead
