I think it's called "urban greening" and I'd like to be apart of it, but have no idea who they get to make these planters. Like is it a company or the council?

Bristol if you could be specific

I would contact the city council first, as they probably have town rangers and public garden officers. I volunteer to help with our town, taking care of the trees and helping to plant hedgerows. They are always happy for people to volunteer, and if you were looking for a way of doing it as a job, I imagine that volunteering first would be a way to put yourself forward for any paid work. This is how it works near me, anyway. I’m in Mendip.

The council will usually have a green spaces team of some sorts or they outsource it. They maintain the parks, verges and planters. There’s also usually a biodiversity officer who looks after green initiatives but on a larger/policy scale.

The council will buy them from a big established company they have a tendered contract with

Probably made by a machine somewhere in Indonesia, imported by the container load, and planted up by the minor criminals on Community Service Orders.

My mate supported himself through lockdown by making various different designs of planters and selling them on eBay!

Probably volunteers who do litter picking, plant bulbs and the like.

It’s not just a place for plants, it also acts as a vehicle barrier if someone wanted to drive through the shopping area. There is normally a bit more to them than a wooden box, so that any car etc is likely to stop if it hits it

I make and supply them to the council and the last person who tried to undercut me was chopped up and buried in several of them around town.
