I bought this air plant a few years ago. Originally it was just the curly part and it grew other parts over time, but the nzw growth is straight instead of curly. Why is that ?
Sadly, the mother plant may be on her way out. Curls generally signal dehydration or other non-optimal states of health. It’s normal for tillandsia to slowly wither away once the pups start coming (more specifically once the plant has flowered) and that could be the case on point. I’d say just keep taking care of her at the best of your ability! The pups seem big enough to stand on their own, so you may want to consider separating them from the mother. It’s not necessary, it’s just up to you, but the plant could potentially live longer (still on borrowed time) if the pups stop “stealing” her energy.
