I didn't really have a coice as my mom's friends dumped a carboard box with a bunch of mismatched glassware, coffee mugs and plates and other random things when they gave me lots of old furniture for my new apartment (including the shelf, desk and trays seen in the photo). Previously i was proping in old PET bottles much like how you can see that I still use a coke bottle for my pre diluted fertiliser. Now I kinda like it because there are so many different ones that it's kinda become an aesthetic.

Also what do you think about my first potting station? The shelf was unstable when i got it so i have temporarily screwed on some extra suport and also temporarily fastened the shelf to the desk. I want to take both apart, sand them down and stain them dark and then rebuild it stronger and more secure. I also have another one of the same shelf and i want to put growlight leds in the shelves is that a good idea?

Please show me your collection of proping containers, your propagating set-ups and potting stations! And tell me about them!

Any glass container is a prop vessel๐Ÿ˜‚

I mean, who really can afford to have matching set of propagation containers if they need loads of them?

I use whatever glass jar that’s on its way to recycling and small enough. ๐Ÿ˜ Though, today I picked a small nursery pot because I had to save two African violet leaves I accidentally removed when cutting dead flower stems. I’m not used to my African violets being so perky. ๐Ÿ˜

Fyi, I prop pretty much everything all together in only one or two jars. This way, they benefit from all of the auxin present in the water. ๐Ÿ’š

If you don’t mind a gentle suggestion, a brighter location would be much more successful.

Mismatched is the best! I go to thrift stores a lot to find cool glass propagating vases. Mine are all different! I try to stagger shapes and sizes, but there’s just glass containers *everywhere* in my house.

You can use glass paint too to make a boring one interesting!

I just moved a few orchids into LECA systems in my last mason jars, so your post just made me plan for another thrift store visit. Thanks for the inspo! ๐Ÿ™

I generally like my plants to be a little wild, so mismatched prop jars is great.

I use empty plastic script bottles, spice containers, condiment & salad dressing containers. I never buy any, just use empty containers. Havenโ€™t had any failed props. Do you find propping in glass different than in plastic?

Honestly, I don’t think about it at all.

Iโ€™ll use just about anything as a prop container. My favorites are empty spice jars, jelly jars, and bottles from salad dressing. Basically, any small glass container is fair game.

Little plant homes should be unique! What a lovely collection!

I’m big on reusing and recycling so anyย  jar/bottle will do it for me ๐Ÿ™‚ย

love the vibe here! theres something so cozy about random containers filled with plants, it feels like a mini salvage story for each one.

Looks fine. You can propagate coleus?

If I didn’t have a propagation system this is exactly how my props would be

Honestly, whatever works. My new favourite is using glass spice jars for the tiny cuttings.

My propagating containers are whatever I pull out of the cupboard at the time. I have one old glass quart jar that I mostly stick cuttings in. At the moment, I have a Pink Princess cutting in an old Talenti gelato container, and a pothos cutting in an old wine bottle that I thought was cute enough to keep. I also bought a bunch of pink plastic cups at Walmart when they went clearance for a quarter each, so I use those a lot too.

These look so lovely though! Mine are in old jars of varying sizes and shapes.
