“Pup” on Guzmania Bromeliad – Do I need to separate it? Does it mean the plant needs a bigger pot?
As above! If it needs re-potting, do I need to buy a special soil mixture? And I guess if I have to get "the pup" its own pot, it should be a tiny pot? TIA!
In bromeliads the shoot that flowers eventually dies, but the leaves stay on for quite some time and feed the suckers, so I’d just leave it for now and maybe increase the amount of light and fertilize a bit…

Bromeliads die after blooming, but before they do, they make pups. Basically, you don’t need to do anything. Do not separate the pups from the mother plant: she will die, and the pups will take her place. If you separate the pups, they might not survice, and you will end up with nothing – just a dead mother and dying children.

No, let them be with the mother until she die, bromeliad only live once in their life cycle. After bloom they will produce pups, then later they will slowly die off and leave the pups.
