Our bay tree seems to be struggling a lot this year. The leaves are going yellow and brown, and there wasn't much growth
I made sure it got water and plant food in the summer, and it gets a bit more light after we cut back the birch (left)

Maybe damage from cold weather?
Lack of sunlight perhaps and maybe too much water? Established trees don’t really need watering unless the ground has got very dry – they don’t like being waterlogged. I had one in a north facing position that dropped its leaves, probably through lack of sunlight.
