  3. last year was my first year with a raised beds. my plants did well but this year not so much. i was blaming extreme heat here in zone 7A. but i think i missed this step so I'm definitely making notes! thank you so much for all your videos.

  4. Great information. Would you consider doing a video in prepping blueberries and grape vines for the winter?

  5. Thank you! I needed this today!!!!! I have a question what can I do with wood chips from doing our wood for the winter heating.

  6. Started growing my own alfalfa this year as a cover crop, plan on expanding on that idea next year. Nothing wrong with buying alfalfa pellets, however, the deep roots of the alfalfa plants are terrific for soil structure.
Pretty much do the same as you with any garden space without a cover crop.
Leave all my plant roots in the soil, in the spring, I just plant right next to last years plant.
I have comfrey growing all over, lol, so I drop that on my beds, spread vermacompost, then any hot compost and leaf mold that's left over. When the leaves drop, a nice layer of leaves to top it off.
I always remove the leaves in early spring to start warming the soil and not to leave food for the jumping worms. Nice video, Stay Well !!! How is that "Sweetie" Cherry tomato?

  7. I have my winter stuff planted! πŸ˜…
Kale, mustard, carrots, garlic and onions. Guess I’m not doing this right now. πŸ˜‚

  8. Last time I put leaves and grass directly on beds in the fall, the potato bugs were so aggressive the next spring! I think the seeds could not start because the worms and potato bugs ate every seedling…

  9. Can you still use the wood remains if it looks more like black chunks instead of white crumbly ash? Can it be crunch up and used?

  10. What should I use instead of leaves as I intend to plant directly. Is it okay to leave large roots in the bed. I'm talking okra and marigolds?

  11. Cheers, Gary!
If the leaves in my yard are wet, can I put them in the trash cans wet? ( to make leaf mold) Or should I wait until the leaves are dry, then put them in the trash can?
