I know the age old caution of not repotting a plant while it’s blooming but….my African Violet is never NOT blooming! However she was getting kinda sad looking in the leaf department. So….I carefully went for it and she’s now in her new slightly larger self watering pot home. I’ve heard that violets thrive more in these pots as they can take the water they need from the bottom as they want it. Thoughts and prayers please that she’s not too mad at me 🫣💜

What a beautiful violet! Unfortunately the pot is really oversized. AVs do thrive in self watering planters, but they need a correct potting medium as well as size. At least 50% perlite, though I usually do something more like 75% it’s rather dependent on your personal growing conditions.
As for the pot, I would go back down to the smaller pot or order a little 3″ self watering planter. It is a good idea to pinch the blooms off so the plan can focus on its root structure than than blooming!
