I bottom-watered my cacti and succulents last night and accidentally forgot these two in the sink because they were taking forever. The soil is saturated now, obviously. I can't remember for sure but it's either 50/50 pumice/potting soil or 70/30. I'm in Missouri, high for the day is 60 and it's sunny so I have them outside right now, but I will be bringing them back in this evening as the next couple days will be below 50. Should I repot or just hope they aren't totally drowned? Any advice welcome-my late husband gifted me these when we started dating so losing them would be absolutely devastating.

Have they been dry for a while before this? Its okay to saturate plants if they are thirsty

Just make sure the water drained out and don’t water them for a couple of weeks. It should be fine.

I would set them on cement or a block. Being in the grass is just going to keep the pots more moist.

A breezy warm spot will help it dry out faster, too. But I agree that lifting them off the ground will help, too.

  5. You can use folded paper towels under the pots to help draw out moisture change out every few hours. If it ever gets real bad you can pull them out of the pots and let the soil dry out fast.

Been there. Done that. I have the memory span of a goldfish.

Mine were ok! Just watch for signs of rot, and put them somewhere warm/lots of light and with good airflow

  7. It’s fine, just leave them out to dry and make sure don’t let them sit in the rain. Sometimes cacti appreciate a good soak

Thank you all! I fully panicked in the middle of getting my baby out of bed and ran to grab them haha. I’ll get some paper towels under them shortly and aerate the soil as well.

I regularly leave my cacti soaking for sometimes 3 days at a time because I forget em (adhd.) They’ll be absolutely fine. Just ensure they dry thoroughly before the next watering

Leaving them in water overnight generally isn’t an issue as long as they can eventually get back some nice sun and ventilation after. Especially if they live outside
