Slopes can be tricky, but they also create opportunities. Here are a couple of ways to make the most of a sloping site – whether that’s terracing for level planting, retaining walls for structure, or smart pathways to navigate the space beautifully.

creating a garden on a slope can be quite tricky but one of the things that we do is called the cut and fill method so basically you’re cutting into the bank using this spoil to fill the other side so you’d need to put some kind of retain on there retaining wall can be made from Stone in a location like this it probably would be you can make that out of sleepers if it’s not too high if it’s like kind of around a meter high that would be okay and then kind of terracing this area will give you some level places to plant if you wanted to create a lawn on this scale of uh of kind of magnitude that was level it’s going to be pretty tricky cuz the difference in level from there to there is probably about four or 5 m however if you just wanted to kind of create some narrow Pathways planting borders and things like that carving this up using the cut and fill method is ideal what you’ll probably find is if you cut into this Bank you’re actually cutting into the subsoil and that can be quite difficult to plant in so move the top soil to one side take the sub soil out and pop it over there put that top soil back on that side and import some top soil for this side and that way you can create some nice Level Playing Fields
