Hi,

A senior services centre asked if I can figure out how to use this hydroponics wall that was donated to them. I have no experience with hydroponics. I am doing some research and it appears that aside from plugging it in, filling the water to a halfway point (not entirely), adding the nutrient solution into the water, I need to purchase net pots and place something like clay pellets, coco coir, or rockwool cubes in them.

How do I shop for these net pots (size/type)?

Should I use clay pellets, coco coir, or rockwool cubes? How do you place them into the net pots?

Thank you,

Jeffrey

Everyone has their preferences on substrate type. I prefer oasis horticubes for their cheap price and compactness. Did the wall come with instructions? Before I make any recommendations I’d say check the manufacturer’s website for all specs, or if they sell net pots themselves.

Another thing to think about is how to germinate the seeds. You don’t want to put those directly into full strength solution.

PS, if you happen to be close to Washington DC I can check it out too. This is something that can be very difficult to jump right into without prior experience
