The instructions on the package only said to water every other day and leave in indirect sunlight, but it’s been a week and they look worse every day. Glad if anyone could give me advice

Every other day is way too much water, bad instructions from the packet! Let it dry out fully and then water

Flowers need full sun outside to thrive. These will never do well indoors, it sucks, but that’s how flowers work. Put it outside, and I guarantee you it will grow better.

These are mums that are destined to die, sometimes quickly depending on conditions, especially if it’s fall where you are. They are common autumn plants because they handle the cold pretty well, but they won’t last super long especially if they’ve been at the store/in transit for awhile and aren’t fresh. I can typically get a month or so out of mums but sometimes less. They need lots of water and thrive with a decent amount of sun, honestly the more the better. But don’t water on a schedule, just let the soil start to dry out a bit before soaking the soil again.

Starting to take care of plants is hard! You’ll find good advice here and maybe even keep these alive for a long time BUT if they do die and you want to hold on to them for longer, pressed or preserved flowers are beautiful as well and dont require the expertise of being able to indefinitely keep a plant alive 🤎

Awe. It’s so sweet that you want to save that plant so badly. Maybe you and he can go pick out an actual houseplant. Mums aren’t really meant to be houseplants. They are used outdoors in the fall for decor a lot in the US. Some people plant them in the ground and have them come back every year (but you have to make sure you have the right type of mum for that) but mostly we buy them as annuals and just use them as temporary plants while they are blooming. Or until the frost in my part of the world kills them. Whichever comes first. Try an easy houseplant first. Once you get the hang of that perhaps you’ll be ready for one that’s a little harder to take care of.

I bought this as it was so pretty but it’s an outdoor plant. I kept it indoors and it didn’t last long.

It’s mums. To much water. Water less only when needed. Good luck

Need to be out side in full sun. Prob water every other day. Although these are gimmicky plant for fall. They dont look good for long.

Consider them a bouquet in a pot instead of a vase. They are not meant to be indoors and they are meant for a certain climate. Enjoy the flowers while they last. (Blooms are not meant to stay forever on any plant btw, blooms die off pretty quickly, couple weeks maybe).

You’ll need grow lights to keep these alive indoors. They are meant to be outside.

To keep the memory cut a few flower heads and press them into the middle of a thick book or under something heavy.

They need repotted as well. 100% that pot is 90% roots.

“Leave in indirect sunlight” they mean “protect from tropical sun at high noon”, common grower term, those flowers need FULL ON SUN for anywhere that isn’t eye-bleachingly bright at noon. Anything less and they will suffer.
