Sooo I was cutting some co dominant leaders that were stunting my poplars growth in comparison to the poplars without co dominants. I was reading up on what to do, and I think it went too flush. The thing is, there was no branch collar to follow or anything like that, no flare, maybe I’m just too new in this (Just got into it hardcore this year). This is all in my yard so atleast I didn’t do it to someone else. What does this mean for my prairie sky poplars? It’s about 7 years old and quite healthy, good environment. The first picture I have the trunk sitting on it to show you how it looked and the second picture is my cut. Let me know what bad thing I just did and what happens next, thanks!

The time to do this was 10 years ago. I would be suspect of the future of this tree but can’t give a definitive answer. I would wait and see and not be shy to rip it out and replace if things begin to look poorly.
