In early May I travelled down to NC to help my mom install a native garden in the yard of her new house, a combination of plugs, mature plants, and seeds. I just came down for a visit and had no idea it would take off this hard, this fast! (All photos are from the past few days except the last one, which is from a few weeks ago, but I had to share those sunflowers.) It's still very much a work in progress and there are many species that haven't taken off yet, but we're both really happy with how this is going so far. And the neighbors are all totally on board, in fact the next door neighbor with a super manicured yard told us she thinks she saw more pollinators this year thanks to us!

Images only show one side of the yard for a reason – the other side I planted with mostly shade and part shade plants, and uhh it turns out that an area that's blasted with sun for several hours during the afternoon can't be planted with tiarella. Lesson learned, and we're working on a plant list that will suit the reality of the situation…

Good job, it looks excellent! The birds are going to have a feast on all those seeheads too and enjoy the buffet.
