I got two lemon skunks at 61 days that started to show signs of foxtailing last week. Temps within 70-75 range, no nutrient buildup, and it covers buds all over plant including those shaded with less light – so thinking it was genetics.

Seems to be a debated topic trying reading up on it, but you guys think it’s better to wait it out the next 10+ days for fully mature trichomes or pull it a little sooner then my desired amber percentage to preserve bud formation and stop any potency loss?

Planning to smoke big buds then wash smalls & larf so the smalls don’t worry me too much and was going to let it ride until fully ripe, but don’t want to let it continue to morph just waiting on a little more amber if it really does lead to potency loss.

Personally, I think it has more than 10 days left and I would see it through to the end.

Trust me if you wait at least a week longer it’ll be worth it

Yeah to me those look really good. Well done! Just a few new pistils, maybe give one more week. I wouldn’t quite call that foxtailing.
Lemon skunk should be really nice. I always really enjoy those lemony skunky strains

Do as you will… You may prefer it more matured, you may prefer it more fresh… If you aren’t trying to shoot for some unnecessarily high THC content for your label at the dispensary, then you may very well prefer the taste and cannabinoid profile of herb harvested later… I do, usually, not always; sometimes I prefer the lighter, more citrus taste of early herb, other times the more earthy and mild taste(although some strains I’ve grown went wayyyyy skunkier than one would expect from an extra week or two).

If you’re not going for numbers, but qualitative aspects of the plant. Go by feeling and preference. You’re likely going to like it either way. That and the difference between 30% and 20% THC, in a joint, is like a couple hits off the roach that you just wouldn’t have finished otherwise… Whether that’s because it was ‘more potent ‘ or that you kept wanting to hit that tasty weed is going to vary greatly with every individual plant…

I personally prefer more mature buds most of the time…

Check your tichomes and where it fox tails compare that to another lower bud and see if they have the same amount of trichomes if they don’t then I would chop. If there still around same amount then let it go for a bit. But if u get to the point where the trichomes are just not there or very lil amounts on the oxtail than I would chop it cause that would be less potent in my opinion.

Foxtailing really isn’t the end of the world like people seem to think. While yeah it’s not desirable it doesn’t really effect much if anything resident aesthetics.
It can also be a genetic thing as well

Most all foxtails I’ve had were all great. I’ve never had an issue with them. And definitely sometimes genetics & you can’t avoid it anyway. Let em go at least a week or two.

Keep an eye on the triches and just go off that. Also, you can lower your light intensity at the end of flower a tad. Fox talking isnt the end of the world. They look frosty. Enjoy!!

Most foxtailing is genetics and has absolutely nothing to with potency. Most on here have very little knowledge or experience, apparently.

  11. I don’t know I would call that fox tailing. Looks more like it was harvested a bit late.

Definitely let it finish. Some of your spears appear to be filling out more than foxtailing. No need to harvest early. You’re in the window rn where it’s putting on serious weight, almost 30% of the yield in the last 10-14 days.

Is the foxtail in the room with us?

I would drop the light hours and introduce more dark looks around 4-6 days away drop the light a hour or 2 a day for a few days then give 24 hours of full darkness and harvest in dark at the end of the 24 hours with no light interruption and only straight water around 4 days before and let dry off before harvest

This is not foxtailing, this is weed that’s not finished yet
