I walked up to my door tonight and realized one of my plants was missing — string of raindrops. Looked back at my Ring doorbell and sure enough, someone took it! 1045p at night — I was home watching TV, just on the other side of my front door. Crazy thing is my door is not directly on the street. Dude had to walk down a long driveway. I’m glad he didn’t take one of my jades or the Senecio Jacobsenii right next to it.

Did you file a police report for theft? He could easily return for another!

I have to wonder if he may be suffering from dementia. Because of the way he walked up and looked at the plants like he legit thought he’s entered a plant shop.

Based on his uniform and the shoes he’s wearing I would be willing to bet this man works at a local restaurant. This also explains why he’s out late night. Probably on his way home from work. Someone local would probably recognized the logo on his hat.
I thought at most he was going to pinch off some cuttings, take a little piece to prop or something… much surprised to see this old geezer take the whole plant?! The audacity is astounding. Sorry that happened, people are just so gross sometimes.
I would post this on Neighbors. We have a few serial plant stealers around me and they have no shame at all! They’ll just keep going door to door weekly, stealing potted plants 1 by 1! A neighbor even printed posted pics of a lady that kept stealing plants and she didn’t care and continued to also steal garden lights! Someone from the neighbors app recognized her living a few blocks away and then called her out on it. Anyways, hope your guy doesn’t come back to steal more plants!

I would’ve taken this video to the police and filed a report as soon as I saw it.
People are so weird. My office kept insisting on live plants, big ones, when I (the OM) was clear that I’m not a gardener. Sure enough, the Dragon Trees in two offices (whose owners never left their shades open) began to die.
I can’t stand just chucking plants, so (when I was replacing them) I pulled them outside onto the back of our office off an alleyway.
Within a week, one disappeared. Great, I thought. The other languished, dropped all her leaves, and then sat as two bare stalks.
But then… LIFE! She began to bud! She got stronger! I took pics to show my boss (so she wouldn’t toss it). For six months this little lady had struggled and now lived! I was SO proud of her!
Then someone took her. I thought we were good because, to the naked eye, she was just stalks. Lesson learned. I hope she’s happy.
I’d definitely zoom in a screenshot his face then post it with the video on every community page. He’ll probably be back for more plants soon because I bet he’s selling them.
