I’ve been getting more into house plants and my husband bought me a Broadway Lights variety from Dew Violets that I’ve had my eye on! And tips/advice/feedback on my setup welcome.

Is there a wick in the pot? Is the pot sitting in water? Personally, I’d have waited till spring to repot it.

I think for a bigger plant, the setup is good, if it isn’t sitting in water.

I think that pot is way too big for that violet. They like to be root bound! Also I see a lot of bark in your mix which is not bad but the best AV soil is typically 60% potting soil and 40% perlite or 70% soil and 30% perlite esp for wick watering. Next time you get one leave it in the pot it comes with and use the wick it has. I’ve ordered plenty from Dew and I usually wait about 6-8 months before a repot, the soil they come in is perfect for them for a while.

WAY too big a pot for that AV. And that’s kind of a sad starter size… Or maybe i’ve been spoiled. Also is the main part of the soil.Just resting in the water, soaking it up.Or is there some sort of wick somewhere??

And are you using a good AV potting mix?? Something about it’s looking off. I read you added the bark ( not sure why) but it’s hard to tell about the soil. But the most important thing is to very gently and without disturbing the roots get her back in a smaller pot ASAP!
