My FLF looks terrible, it lost all bottom leaves, I need it to grow leaves and branches in the bottom and middle so it looks more like an actual tree

Having this same problem, it was so nice and full months ago and now the top leaves are hanging on by a thread. Thinking about chopping it

Chop it and water when soil is dry. It can potentially lose its leaves because the roots have too much water.

It will only refoliate the trunk if you chop it, at least to half its height. It needs more light and consistent thorough watering

Okay, so first thing. It’s a tropical tree – it needs lots of light. Move it infront of a window.
Only way for new growth down the bottom is to chop it – once new growth has started you can then pinch off the newest leaf growth (actually remove the bud) and it will start a new branch. I did this to mine and got 3 new branch’s – but only because it sits infront of an east/south facing window and gets lots of light.
