I posted the other day with some questions on planting my sugar maple.

Thanks to the advice received I felt more confident in aggressively digging out the root flare and roughing up all the girdled roots. It seems that the tree was in fact buried 6-8” too deep in its container from the nursery.
I am still a bit nervous about how I planted the tree but I am trusting the advice on this sub that higher is better. How did I do?
The tree seems to have a large graft union/bulge above the root flare which is fully exposed now, and the stem/canopy comes off that on almost a 45 degree angle. So, I focused on keeping the overall tree straight which resulted in the graft union and base of the tree being pretty crooked. Thoughts?
Also, due to how deep the tree was planted in the container from the nursery, I made the decision to cut a couple smaller roots off that would have been floating in the air not able to make contact with the ground at the trunks current height.
I was planning to get some top soil to fix the area around the tree. I want to pitch the area around the tree better to help with drainage since I am getting some pooling. My only question is if I should build up the area another inch or 2 to cover the one exposed root and also bury the tree just a couple inches deeper?
