I'm so proud of my first ping bowl!!
I’d like to thread sundews through the substrate and as I've not kept drosera before, which species are genuinely beginner tolerant? If this matters, I’m aiming for sundews + utricularia only.
I’ve used a plastic mesh as a capillary break between coarse lava and the medium and it seems to read far too visibly. What can I do instead?
eager to learn!

Most drosera will work in that substrate. Cape sundews are the easiest, and won’t require dormancy. But in a year you’ll have a cape sundew bowl.
Stick to tropicals and you won’t have to worry about much.
capensis, spatulata, natalensis, aliciae, any of these will work fine.
A staghorn would look cool there
What substrate mix are you using? It looks really good.
How do the pings stay on the rocks? Aren’t ping roots super thin?
Easy. 100% Drosera admirabilis. A lot of people don’t grow it but it lives happily with pings. It’s the only sundew I still have inside with my pings. All the rest I put outside.
