  1. My asters have spread to neighbours’ yards where they get mowed over all season, and they still manage to flower (much closer to the ground than mine) 😂 Long live asters! (they will, no worries)

    I will try to label them in case anyone is curious but forgive me if a few are mixed up (I got disorganized planting):

    1) smooth blue aster (symphyotrichum laeve)

    2) panicled aster (symphyotrichum lanceolatum)

    3) Lindley’s aster (symphyotrichum ciliolatum)

    4) purple-stemmed aster and frost aster (symphyotrichum puniceum and symphyotrichum pilosum)

    5) Lindley’s aster

    6) New England aster (Symphyotrichum novo angliae)

    7) heath aster (symphyotrichum ericoides) or arrow leaved aster(symphyotrichum urophyllum)? and Lindley’s aster

    8) sky blue aster (symphyotrichum oolentangiense)

    9) purple-stemmed aster and frost aster

    10) heart-leaved aster (symphyotrichum cordifolium) and heath aster?

    11) I think this is shining aster (symphyotrichum firmum)

    12) calico aster (symphyotrichum lateriflorum)

    13) Lindley’s aster

    14) frost aster

    15) sorry this one got posted twice and I really am not sure if this is arrow-leaved or heath aster

    What a selection!! They look great! Deer and rabbits eat most of mine.

  4. This is my favorite thing about fall bloomers. They’ll almost always pull off a first year bloom if they get a good start!

    Asters are my favorite native wildflowers. I’m a beekeeper and these flowers are always a special last treat for my bees before the cold sets in. Do you have a nursery where you were able to get such a variety, or did you buy online?
