Recently moved into this house, and there is a beefy vine that has wrapped itself around multiple trees in the back corner. Looking at the base in the first picture, I am not sure if this was intentionally planted since it seems like it was intended to grow up the arbor, but after seeing how far up it's grown and reading a few posts here sounds like I should chop out a 1 ft section near the base, and I should NOT try to remove the vine up the tree. This vine seems pretty big so I wanted to make sure this was still the correct advice and that the upper portions will die off on their own

What kind of ridiculous question is that?! Just cut the vine. Use a small chain saw if you need to. The vine pulls water from its roots in the ground. If you cut the near the ground, the vine no longer gets water, then it dies.
It’s really that simple.
Whenever you pull on the vines, be aware that dead tree branches may come crashing down on you. A hard hat is a good idea if there’s dead wood in the canopy.
