Alright, the other day I had to trim an exceptional amount of the roots from this guy due to the root rot. They basically fell off before I even had to trim, so it was bad.
I did a water change, used some peroxide, and tried to wash as much of the gunk as I could. It's clear to me right now that was not enough. So I'm wondering…
-
I should probably clean/boil the hydroton, but how can I take the plant out without damaging it further? Losing that many roots at once couldn't have been good…
-
Should I trim the branches back too? They're shedding leaves like crazy, and I can feel some of the bigger peppers getting a little rubbery. I don't want to stress the plant out more than absolutely necessary, cause I was getting so close to its first harvest.
Anyways, feel free to ask questions, I'm kind of winging this as I go, so I'll answer as best I can.

If you haven’t pruned the roots I’d say prune, but you should probably just let it recover. I’d splash a tiny bit of hydrogen peroxide in the tank once a day or every other day until you see new healthy roots coming out.
If you haven’t changed the water, you should.
Also, you might need an air stone or something to help prevent this. Maybe colder water too if your res temp is higher than 70-80 degrees. Roots don’t like hot water in most cases.
I just got rid of root rot on my basil in my aerogarden with hydrogen peroxide splash in the es every day or yep for a couple weeks. The I saw new roots and I do it once a week or so to make sure it doesn’t come back.
Maybe 5-10 ml in a gallon was plenty. Just a squirt
