Planted in a neighbourhood yard in Toronto. iPhone seems to think it’s Anenome Sylvestris but the photos online of that seem too short. This one had quite leggy stems – 2 feet tall?- with leaves spaced out up the stem in levels.
Once the pink petals fell off the centre leaves a cute little bobble!
I may go knock on their door to ask.
Any help identifying it?

Anenome.
Looks like some kind of Japanese anemone. Maybe Hadspen’s Abundance. Plenty of cultivars to check out in gardenia.net. If you ask nicely maybe they’ll divide it an let you take a cutting in the spring?? New plant and new plant friend. https://www.gardenia.net/plant/anemone-hupehensis-hadspen-abundance-japanese-anemone

Anemone definitely. That color looks like the Pretty Lady Diana cultivar to me 🙂
Looks like Japanese Anemone to me they get that tall and have those little bobble seed heads after the petals drop.
