I found powdery mildew on multiple of my African Violets and tried to treat them… today I noticed these brown patches on the leaves closest to the crown on some of them. Are they doomed for crown rot, or is it just cosmetic?

I tried to dry them off after treating them, but…

It’s difficult to see the stem but I would hesitantly say the stem seems fine and it seems more like a burn. If you look at the bottom of leaves and the bottoms are brown as well, then I would trim off the affected leaf or the affected part of the leaf to be on the safe side.
Any brown stems I would remove immediately and watch like a hawk to make sure it’s not spread to the crown.

However, I would recommend waiting to see if others are in agreement.

  2. I can’t tell for sure but I recently saved a plant of mine from mild crown rot so if it is that, there’s still hope. I just scrapped away the rotten leaves and the rotten parts of the crown until it was bright green. Then bagged it in a ziploc and let it hang out for a month or so. It grew several new crowns and I just recently removed all but one to start the path ahead.

If main stem still good. You probably just loose some darkened leaves. The tiny center leaf looks promising. But it will be a slow growth because its flowering. Did you spray something? What kind? This looks like it got burned.
