I found these strange seeds on my patio yesterday. Im afraid they are castor beans and someone is trying to poison my dogs. I've never seen these before on my patio and been here for 5+ years[in socal] . Someone from /whatisit recommended i share this here just to confirm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like Ricinus(castor bean) seeds to me

They are castor plant seeds, the stuff they make castor oil from, but they are poisonous, only the oil (yuck) is consumable and only after purifying.

“**castor beans contain ricin**, a highly toxic, naturally occurring protein. Ricin is found in the **seed of the castor oil plant (*****Ricinus communis*****)**, and it becomes dangerous when the seed is **chewed, crushed, or otherwise broken**, allowing the ricin to be released and absorbed”
