Any suggestions on how to better prune the next one? Thinking of cutting the main stem after four or six ‘branches’ maybe?
I didn’t expect this basil to last so long in this small aero garden. It’s probably about a year old and may have to saw off the trunk to get it out now 😜 there’s just no more room to let the leaves grow big and the root ball is the same shape and size as the container…so it’s time to go.
Just ignore the green onion I just tossed in a month ago just ‘because’. Also, last pic is when it was in its prime, and no, kohlrabi wasn’t a good idea.

Prune more often! I’m constantly pruning my basil and I have so much pesto in the freezer it isn’t funny.
It’s common practice to heavily prune basil plants all throughout the growing season. It reduces the amount of flowers and increases leaf growth as well as combats the diminishing light at the end of the season that induces flowering.
