American Beautyberry, Calycarpa americana, aka French Mulberry. Awesome find. Great for wildlife.

American Beautyberry. The fruit is edible, but not very pleasant.

It looks like the beautyberry to me which are edible but a lot better tasting when you cook them down or make them into wine or jams. They’re not amazing raw but a nice lil forageable

You can cook these leaves or use some other way to make a tincture from the leaves and it makes a bug spray that is so very good. I boiled them down and added a tablespoon or two of alcohol and a tablespoon or two of vitamin e oil…and I’m mosquitoes love me and I was bite free
I found these on my land a couple years ago and made a delicious jelly. They’re not sweet on their own but a great floral taste and beautiful color when made into jelly or jam

Beauty berry. Cook them down to make teas, jams, etc. You can eat them raw, but they taste better cooked.

I made hella good wine out of those before. The hardest part was finding enough.
American beautyberry. I grow them intentionally. Crush the leaves, they smell lovely. I hear the berries make a good jam but I’ve yet to collect enough to try it without them spoiling first.

This is your sign to get into native plant gardening!!

Pretty sure that’s Asian beauty berry, not American. The American beauty berry grows the berries right at the stem.
