Spotted this striking red-and-yellow tropical plant in Singapore — does anyone know what it is?
I came across this plant while visiting Singapore and was amazed by its vibrant colors and unique shape. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Does anyone know its name or species?
Heliconia are happiest above 15C; will start to cold-burn below about 10C; and will die outright if the tubers freeze. They prefer higher humidity.

It’s really a tropical plant, but of course the Dutch have worked out how to grow it in abundance in humid greenhouses. Have a look at the ginger and curcuma family if you want something nearly as showy outside in europe, torch ginger, whilst tropical, grows at elevation and can be naturalised in europe and has gorgeous large inflorescences
