I got it with a family member and they told me it was a bonsai. I barely remember to water it, and yet it’s never had an issue until a few months ago. I thought I would repot it since it was 2 years old, I bought “the right soil” from a nursery that told me it did not need bonsai soil. Within 5 days it lost half its leaves. I repotted it in bonsai soil and then it went back to normal?? What is this plant. Also does anyone know if I can get the leaves to regrow, also I did not do the wire wrapped around it.

Bonsai is a growing technique, not a type of plant. for bonsai trees to survive, a great deal of care goes into training their form, careful pruning, and root care.

  2. keep in mind that in the right enviroment these can get huge. They grow well in tropical and subtropical areas that have lots of sunshine and rain. While they can be kept as houseplants they want to be outside and grow to 40 or 50 ft tall. Indoors they still want water and light. When repotting, a little fertilizer and maybe some rooting hormone can help.
