Newbie help?
I’m very very new to this – new to growing at all, in fact. Most of my life I have had a ‘black thumb.’
These 2 lettuce plants are doing amazingly well. As you can see, I am getting more seeds going.
My stupid, newbie question is how do I handle the stalks of the lettuce? I’m about to do my 2nd harvest from the big boys & am cutting from the base, leaving the new growth in the center.
But, man, they are TALL and not sure how to keep them alive/healthy if I just keep trimming from the bottom.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated!!

I would continue harvesting the bottom leaves until the plant height maxes out the grow light or the leaves get bitter from being old. They are stretching towards due to insufficient lighting. I would try to keep the light closer to the canopy, especially when starting new seeds. The current seedlings will need much more light (grow light 4-8 inches from seed pods) or they will be very leggy.
