My bfs astronaut broke. Instead of tossing away, I thought about growing a plant out of his head. It has a hole in each foot so already has “drainage” holes 🤣

I’m new to the plant world and it’s so funny how everything can turn into a plant pot.

Open to suggestions on what plant would look best in here. I was thinking some type of succulent. Maybe cut some of my sedum or a small part of my jade plant.

What’s your most unique plant pot that wasn’t meant for plants? I’m so curious. I know people can get really creative.

Rusty paint cans I later realized were probably from the lead paint era. 😭 I had them disposed of.

funny you ask this question. i used to hate shopping although i work in supply chain.
now, i can spend hours in any store because my main focus is always , what new and unusual thing can i turn into a pot. lol

A Red Sox trash bin for my Peace Lily. It was struggling in every pot I put it in. I broke the pot I had it in and transferred it to the first container I found.

The damn plant thrives in that bin, so it’s staying.

My grandmother’s fancy tea cups for my african violets.

I have a string of pearls growing in an empty can of peas

This spaceman would look rad with a burro tail growing from it

He needs some sort of strings of things in it. Either a burro tail or maybe even string turtles for hair. I think you can use a small file and smooth out the sharp ceramic edges to prevent cutting yourself or the plants as well.

ooh I love the idea of using the astronaut as a pot! I think something trailing would be awesome — I’d want to go for like a dystopian, abandoned statue vibe where plants are taking over. hopefully that makes sense, I don’t know how to explain lol.

I saw a golden colour Tag Heuer Astronaut Similar to this in the pic , was made for the moon landing anniversary to display in shop windows. Was made from plastic though.
    Random I know. 🫣

Not houseplant, but my mum uses a chimney pot that fell off the roof during a storm 25 years ago for some of her outdoor plants. Looks nice after painting.

I tried to get my cousin to use the old toilet when she bought her condo and had to remodel but she wouldn’t 😭😭😭 Someone did use a toilet for a flower arrangement at the county fair when I was in high school. The next year, there was a rule that you had to be able to carry your arrangement into the barn 🤣

I have the same astronaut! I have the white one with gold
Backpack and overall gold. I will say be careful because it will be difficult to repot depends on what you end up growing

Wax Begonia getting ready to come inside! No holes in the bottom, only rocks. First time planting in something with no holes but ordering a diamond bit to put drainage in more “pots”. Also have a watering can that I planted Celosia (going to try and keep that inside too) in because the spout was crap, and I have old lace up work boots and a Klein tool bag outside for plant pots outside 😅 anything that I can get plant in, I will. I frequently hit up thrift stores for old coffee mugs, cool pans, metal baskets (I usually line with a couple cute of burlap and yes the soil dries as fast as coco coir baskets so I’m still finessing) or anything that will hold a plant lol. I want to find a mini bathtub (maybe for dolls?) and plant some succulents in it for houseplants… there’s so many options out there, almost anything can be a plant pot if you want it to be! 😁
