You will need to remove the flower, or even better, get a new stem without a flower. This is usually because the stem has expended its energy into the flower, and would have trouble rooting

Give it a try, but if it fails don’t stress this is not the best time of year. just try it again in late spring of next year.

You also want a tender shoot, not a woody one. It will flower again quickly after rooting. You can also water prop. If you soil prop, don’t let it dry out at all.
