If you want it everywhere, just plant it in a few places. It spreads.

Bleu mistflower, and you can transplant it if you don’t like the location. Otherwise, it spreads aggressively by rhizome, so you’re fine just letting it grow out and cover more ground if you want more.

Gorgeous picture of blue mistflower / *Conoclinium coelestinum*! Find your local native nursery to acquire more!

It spreads EVERYWHERE. I hate this plant. Planted it in a formal garden with several different beds I volunteer at and it’s now in every bed. Have spent the summer pulling it.

  5. It’s blue mistflower.  You can order seeds from several online plant site. Prairie Moon and Florida Wildflower Growers Coop have it.  Plant in late fall for winter striation and sprouting in spring.  It roots super fast from cuttings, if you can get those.

It is winter dormant, so as far as growing it all over your yard, something else will grow in over winter.  Mistflower is better in a mix of plants.

I’m in Northern Virginia, and I love blue mistflower! It volunteered in the bed we established for natives after we covered over the lawn, and it’s gorgeous. That bed gets really wet sometimes, so I’m thrilled for something that volunteers and isn’t the Virginia buttonweed that we already have so much of. I let that grow too, but the variety of plants is nice, and the flowers on the mistflower are much, much prettier and attract more pollinators. There was a little orange butterfly hanging out on it the other day. Enjoy yours!
