Would love if someone knows exactly what this plant is, it was a volunteer all over my yard this spring/summer and was really weedy looking (and about 5ft tall) so I removed most of it but it is now one of the few things in bloom and attracts everything(and is honestly really pretty). Also, what’s your favorite late summer/fall blooms?

Must be late boneset because the leaves aren’t all weird like on the “common,” though my common boneset is blooming right now too. Whoever named these got all their adjectives mixed up.

What state are you in and do you have pictures? ID may be easier that way

Looks like late boneset and it can aggressively spread. We actually give the pollinators access for a few days, then cut it back before it goes to seed.

    Thats great!

They are all over my common boneset. Added bonus that it smells good!

  5. Late boneset (Eupatorium serotinum). Pollinators love it, especially Monarchs.

    * Eupatorium serotinum provides late-season nectar for monarch butterflies. There is also evidence that pyrrolizidine alkaloids produced by Eupatorium serotinum are beneficial to Monarchs. These compounds, which are toxic to humans and other animals, are sequestered by butterflies for defense and used in courtship rituals. (c)
