Euonymus obovatus is native to Michigan, Ohio and Indiana as well as nearby states. Euonymus obovatus is a ground cover that likes to grow in shade. Euonymus obovatus stems actually stay green in winter. The fruits of this plant are eaten by birds and look beautiful! This plant likes well draining soils. The only downside to this plant is that deer and rabbits love it. Which I suppose is good or bad depending on how you look at it.
