Hello!
I have a 'fake' aeroponics set up growing Basil on my deck. 5 gal bucket, water pump connected to a shower head that drips water, currently set up 15 min-15min off during the day and 5min-20min off during night time. I live in northern VA, so temperatures right now can get to mid 80s.
This is my second attempt of basil, the first attempt had similar roots or even darker but they grew well, no visible damage on the leaves. But I was expecting some 'whiter' roots (I have seen the clean roots on my microgreens set-up) this time since I feel I didn't mess up this time.
The current picture is a clone of the first batch. I assume it might be my timer, or the water is warm most of the time due to the temperature? Any advice will be much appreciated. If its temperature I was willing to experiment with a chilling system, maybe an aquarium one.

I think those look healthy? I’m no expert, but I don’t think you ever get white roots. Darker colors (edit: darker than yours I mean, yours look pretty light) can mean things like too little oxygen, but it sounds like you have an intermittent drip system rather than fully submerged roots. And the top of the plant looks healthy, so I think you’re doing well?
Looks healthy to me. Both roots and foliage. Is there a rotting smell?
Looks healthy to me, do a peroxide flush if you’re worried about it.
Those are healthy roots with a little algae on them.
My roots are white and I use hydroguard every Monday morning in my res tank to help some.If I let my water go above 75 I get that same root color once I bring it down to 72 no issue at all but I set mine to 70 and allows me to pump up the nutrients a bit higher for bigger faster growth.
Hypoclorous acid. Since I’ve been using it no more root problems.
Those roots ain’t looking bad tho
Those roots are fine. Just dead bio material
