Visitors will be able to take a stroll into the history of Geilston Garden at special events this month.

Volunteers Alana Ingram and Fiona Collins will play the roles of Miss Hendry and Miss Bell, who were the last occupants of Geilston House before it was given to the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) in 1989, together with the garden, estate and a fund of £900,000 for maintenance.

A walk tomorrow morning in the garden near Cardross  is fully booked, but an extra session has been arranged for 1pm to 2pm tomorrow, and there also be walks on Sunday September 21 from 11am to 12 noon and 2pm to 3pm.

They are organised by the Friends of Geilston, and a spokesperson said: “As you walk through the garden they will tell you about the history of the Geilston estate and chat about their lives there – a fascinating insight into the garden’s past.”

For further information and to book email geilstonfriends.events@gmail.com – normal NTS entry fees apply.
