🌿 We’re honored to share Wild Ones was highlighted in The New York Times AGAIN! This time, exploring America’s lawn obsession and the growing call to let our yards go wild. 🦋

Author Ken Ilgunas concludes the essay with a powerful message:

“If there is any call to action in this, it is to get involved with an organization like Wild Ones — to join a local chapter and campaign for state laws that would force H.O.A.s to give residents the right to grow gardens in their own wildlife-friendly ways.”

I was at a friend’s house last week sitting in his backyard & watched in disbelief as his neighbor mowed the lawn that was *maybe* 1/2″ high. In reality, probably closer to 1/8″. I asked my friend how often the neighbor mows, “every Sunday.” I then asked him the last time he mowed, “over a month ago.” We’ve had a very dry summer where we are.

Sat there boggled as I watched clouds of dust kicking up from behind the mower.

Just a “funny” tangent I thought this sub would appreciate, this post reminded me of it.

It’s an excellent organization. I have been to one of their native plant sales here in Colorado where they literally give away native plants and only want money if you can afford to pay.
