Hi, I’m trying to get this lawn situated for next Spring/Summer and since I am a complete beginner at lawn stuff, I wanted to ask for your advice. (Zone 9b)
My plan is to try to take out the bamboo, cover everything with cardboard and mulch, and plant some natives.
My yard also gets a lot of leaves as you can see and was wondering if people had ideas of native plants or landscaping ideas to deal with the leaves a bit easier each fall.
Appreciate any suggestions!

I would gently rake the leaves aside while you put down the cardboard and mulch and then put them on top later. Leaves are important for insects.
For planting, I would do a native shrub in the middle back and then plant native perennials that like part sun. Since it is a smaller space, I would choose a maximum of three types of perennials and plant in groupings of 3-5. Choose perennials that don’t get too tall or floppy.
